When Black Friday comes…

You can’t miss it – Black Friday is everywhere.

In the United States, where it all began, Black Friday refers to the Friday after Thanksgiving, which traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season there.

Here in Aotearoa we have latched on to it as another season of sales and a sharp opportunity to save as we start ticking off the names on our ‘nice’ list.

At The Colombo, Santa’s elves and our band of specialist retailers have teamed up to deliver some seasonal savings that will help you stay in the black:

  • Coopers & Co’s Christmas store has some big savings on Christmas trees.
  • Fashion store Collective has 20% off women’s and kids’ clothing from 25-28 November.
  • BLACK Hairdressing has 35% off all retail products including gift packs for Black Friday only.
  • Issimo’s pop-up shoe store has its last few days of instore specials before closing on Sunday.
  • Fashion boutique Anna Stretton has a further 20% off all sale items and 10% off everything else from 25-28 November.
  • Women’s and men’s fashion store Hills Boutique has 30% off everything until 29 November.
  • Homeware store Redcurrent has up to 50% off nearly everything instore.
  • Furniture and home appliance retailer Smiths City has a host of specials until 29 November.
  • Babywear store Dimples has specials on everything from merino headbands to mountain buggies.
  • Interior décor specialists French Country Collections Outlet has 15% off until 30 November.
  • Vivo Hair Salon has up to 65% off until 27 November.
  • Scandi retreat Nordic Chill has a selection of deals from 25-28 November.

Representing a different view, Trade Aid has opted to say no to Black Friday as a protest against “frivolous consumerism”.

Academy Gold Cinema isn’t marking the sales season overtly but if you are in the mood for something dark, comedy horror film The Menu will sate your appetite.
