Christchurch’s leading arthouse destination. Academy Gold is a three-screen complex with modern screens, luxury seating, a licensed bar and café, and free parking. Screening quality films to a wide age demographic with a mixture of arthouse and blockbuster films.
Academy Cinema opened in 1976 in The Arts Centre and became known as Christchurch’s home of arthouse film. When the February 2011 earthquake severely damaged the Arts Centre, the cinema searched for a new home and found the perfect location at The Colombo. Now you can enjoy a selection of prime films in Academy’s gold-class cinema complex.
